Naader Shagagi, 56, the owner of Yoga Kingdom Sanctuary, has been convicted of four misdemeanor counts of sexual battery by fraudulent representation. Shagagi told female students that his intimate touch would "heal" them. City officials state that the case is based on complaints from three young female students who state they were assaulted during private "healing" sessions.
Shagagi told the victims that he was a "messenger of gods" who could communicate with the gods to cure people of their illnesses. Shagagi claimed he could "melt away the disease you may currently be experiencing" and that students reported weight loss, cured migraines and no longer needing medication. Victims were persuaded to take multiple private lessons with Shagagi during which he repeatedly groped and touched them. Shagagi was convicted of sexual battery and will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
