Former Tennis Champion Charged with Stalking and Battery

Former tennis champion Jennifer Capriati has been charged after Palm Beach police said she punched her ex-boyfriend on Valentine's Day while he was working out at a gym. Though she has not been arrested, she has been issued a summons to appear before a judge April 17 on Stalking and Battery charges.

Ivan Brannan was working out when Capriati approached him and yelled at him. Brannan told police that he tried to get away by walking to the men's locker room, but Capriati allegedly blocked his path and punched him in the chest. Brannan told police he and Capriati broke up in 2012 and that she has harassed and stalked him since then.

Capriati won three Grand Slams over her career, including the French Open and won Olympic gold at the 1992 Games in Barcelona. But in 1993, Capriati was charged with shoplifting, had a misdemeanor marijuana possession in 1994, and had an accidental overdose in 2010.

If you, or someone you know has been charged with stalking, battery or assault charges it is essential to contact a Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer who can aggressively fight the charges against you.
