Former Head of Los Angeles Neighborhood Commission Pleads Guilty in Child Pornography Case

Al Abrams, the former president of the city Board of Neighborhood Commissioners, was accused in 2011 of possessing hundreds of sexual images of children and of distributing child pornography he captured off the Internet. FBI officials said they became aware of his activity when they were investigating a file-sharing network.

In a plea agreement, Abrams admitted to possessing the pornography and collecting it over the course of 10 years. The plea agreement said the images were of children under the age of 12, including infants.

In exchange for his plea of guilty, prosecutors will recommend Abrams receive a sentence of five to eight years, a fine of $5,000 and supervised release for the rest of his life. He will have to register as a sex offender and be limited in how he can use a computer and restricted in his contact with youths under age 18.

Charges of child pornography and other sex crimes can bring very heavy penalities. If you're facing such charges, contact us to discuss your case.
