Los Angeles Federal ICE Agent Shot in His Home; Teen Son Charged with Murder

A 14-year-old boy accused of killing his father, federal ICE agent Myron W. Chisem, did not enter a plea to a murder charge at his initial juvenile court appearance and will face a May 21 hearing on his fitness to be tried as an adult.

The boy was allegedly upset after clashing with his father over his grades and used his father's service weapon to fire a shot into the house from the backyard. The single shot struck Chisem in the head as he sat watching TV in the family room of their Carson home. The teen called 911 and deputies found Chisem's handgun in the front yard.

The boy has been charged with one count of murder and the additional allegation of using a firearm. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office will proceed with its efforts to try the teenager as an adult.

If you, or someone you know has been charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, or any other type of crime, it is important to contact a Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer who can aggressively fight for your rights.
