California Mom Arrested for Child Endangerment After Kids Eat Pot Cookie

A California woman has been arrested for Felony Child Endangerment after her two daughters, ages 10 and 11, found a chocolate chip cannabis cookie wrapped in plastic on their kitchen counter and decided to split the cookie between themselves. When the girls began to feel ill, they were transported to the emergency room of a nearby hospital.

Toxicology tests revealed that the pre-teens were under the influence of marijuana, which led to Child Protective Services getting involved with the family. When asked where the marijuana-laced cookie came from, the mother replied that a friend gave it to her for medical purposes. The mother does not legally have a prescription for medical marijuana.

A Felony Child Endangerment conviction in California can result with a multiple-year prison sentence. A parent convicted of child abuse may also be forced to give up their parental rights under the law, in which case the children are often placed in custody of Child Protective Services.

If you, or someone you know has been charged with Felony Child Endangerment, Child Abuse, Possession of a Controlled Substance, or any other type of Drug Crime, you will need to contact an experienced Los Angeles Criminal Defense Lawyer to fight for your rights.
