Inglewood Rape Suspect Tracked Via Victim's Dropped Cell Phone

Inglewood Rape Suspect Tracked Via Victim's Dropped Cell Phone

Charles Kelly was dressed in his security guard uniform when he offered a woman a ride, drove her to a parking lot and raped her at knifepoint. The victim managed to escape, and fled from the scene for help. She had dropped her cell phone in Kelly's vehicle during the altercation, an accident that helped police track, and arrest him at his Inglewood apartment.

Kelly was arrested and booked on suspicion of Rape, Robbery, False Imprisonment and the use of a dangerous weapon in a felony. If convicted on all, or some of the fore-mentioned charges, Kelly's punishment may include the following:

Rape: Rape is always charged as a felony and includes a sentence of 3, 6, or 8 years in state prison, up to $10,000.00 in fines, and mandatory Sex Offender Registration.

Robbery: Robbery is also always charged as a felony. In Kelly's case, he would more than likely be charged with Second Degree Robbery, which is punishable by 2, 3, or 5 years in state prison.

False Imprisonment: If charged as a felony, Kelly could be facing up to three years in prison and up to $10,000.00 in fines.
