Former Playboy Playmate Gets Prison Time for Voluntary Manslaughter

Former Playboy Playmate, Victoria Rathgeb, was arrested after non-fatally shooting her husband in the back after a heated argument last year. Rathgeb was initially charged with Attempted Murder and was facing a possible sentence of life in prison, had she been convicted.

After negotiations with the prosecutors, Rathgeb plead no contest to Attempted Voluntary Manslaughter and was given the maximum sentence of nine years in prison.

Under California law, Voluntary Manslaughter is a form of homicide that does not involve prior malice or premeditation. Even if a person convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter has intentionally murdered someone, it is usually done in the "heat of passion," which may reduce the punishment.

If you, or someone you know has been charged with Murder, Voluntary Manslughter, or any other Crime, contact Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney, Robert M. Bernstein, for a free consultation today.
