Sex Offenders Banned From Match.com

Sex Offenders Banned From Match.com

Match.com, a popular singles website, will soon begin screening its users against the national sex offender registry after being sued by a California woman who says that she was assaulted by someone she met through the site's service. The suit said the attack could have been prevented with a proper background check and demanded that Match.com start screening for sexual predators.

The company was already considering screening users but the timing of the decision was accelerated by the attention the lawsuit brought. The company also offers several safety tips to its users, including always meeting for the first time in public, telling a friend or family member where the date will take place, and staying sober.

Being accused of any Sex Crime is is a terrifying experience. Depending on the circumstances, consequences for a sex crime conviction may range from probation to a lifetime in jail. Most convictions will include mandatory lifetime sex offender registration, a label that will forever govern where you are able to live and work. If you, or someone you know has been charged with a Sex Crime, contact a Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney, Robert M. Bernstein, for a free consultation today.
