Glendale Woman Sentenced for Embezzling from Youth Football Organization

Tina Marquez was already serving a two year prison sentence for disability insurance fraud when she was sentenced to an additional 16 months for embezzling over $42,000 from a Glendale youth football organization while it was under her leadership.

The embezzlement was revealed after frustrated parents complained that their children weren't wearing updated uniforms or playing with new equipment, despite paying more than $250 per player in program enrollment fees. After some investigation, board members discovered their funds were missing and outstanding debt had gone unpaid.

Marquez used the funds to buy music on iTunes, lease a vehicle, pay for restaurants, groceries, dental visits, gas and clothing services.

Marquez plead no contest to one felony count of grand theft of personal property and another felony count of forgery for stealing funds from the youth football organization while she was president. Along with the 16 month prison sentence, she is ordered to repay $42,228 to the group.
