Drunk driver convicted of murder for the death of Angel’s Pitcher, Nick Adenhart

Andrew Thomas Gallo was found guilty of murder in connection with the April 9, 2009, DUI crash that killed Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two of his friends.  Gallo was driving a mini-van at 65 miles-per-hour in a 35 miles-per-hour zone while drunk and carrying a suspended license.  After striking the car, Gallo fled on foot and was caught less than a half-hour later.

Gallo was still on probation for a 2006 DUI conviction when the accident occurred.  A test conducted a couple of hours after the crash showed Gallo had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19%, which is more than twice the legal limit for driving under California law.

Gallo was convicted of three counts second-degree murder, two felony drunk-driving charges and one felony count hit-and-run.  He faces a potential sentence of 50 years to life in prison at his sentencing on December 10.
