Jackie Chan's son, Jaycee Chan, 31, was arrested on drug-related charges
in a major China drug crackdown. While police officers searched Chan's
residence, they discovered small plastic bags and containers in a filing
cabinet that contained marijuana, methamphetamine and ecstasy.
Jaycee Chan and Kai Ko, a Taiwanese movie star, were detained and they
both tested positive for marijuana. Chan is facing charges of accommodating
drug users a place to consume illegal substances. The charges can carry
a sentence of up to 3 years in prison, if convicted.
Hollywood start and actor, Jacki Chan, has apologized on his son's
behalf and has admitted that him and his wife are ashamed and heartbroken
by their son's actions. Currently in China there is a crackdown on
celebrities who are caught with illegal
drugs and several other stars have been found and punished already. This is
because Xi Jinping, the President of China has ordered for forceful measures
to be taken in order to combat the problem of illegal drug use.
Both Chan and Ko may now be used as an example for China's anti-drug
campaign. This alone is ironic because Jackie Chan has spoken up against
drug use in the past. In fact, he was even named China's Anti-Drugs
Ambassador back in 2009.
