Rebecca McGroerty, 26, a professional dog walker in Santa Monica, was charged with child endangerment after a 4-year-old girl was bitten on the leg by a Staffordshire terrier. McGroerty was inside the home with the dog when the girl was attacked. Medical personal stitched the girl's leg and released her to her parents.
The dog's owner had given McGroerty instructions to always have the animal muzzled and on a leash. The dog's owners also told McGroerty that the dog was afraid of small children and was aggressive towards them. The attack occurred in the dog owner's home when the girl came inside the residence. McGroerty's employer gave her instructions not to have anyone in the home except employees or residents of the home.
The dog was impounded and quarantined for 10 days before it was released to its owner.
