Los Angeles Police Officer Accused Of Rape While On Duty

Posted By Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney || 5-Aug-2013

Jose Sanchez, 28, has been arrested following a two-year investigation and been charged with rape and soliciting bribes while on duty. A source helped detectives with a six month investigation with the Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau that resulted in an arrest of Sanchez on 11 criminal counts.

The criminal complaint alleges that on September 22, 2010, Sanchez pulled over a woman and in exchange for sex offered not to take her into custody on her outstanding arrest warrant. Again, two nights later, Sanchez allegedly pulled over another woman for driving under the influence and offered the same sexual exchange for not placing her under arrest.

The 11 counts that Sanchez are up against consist of soliciting a bribe, rape under fear or duress, kidnapping to commit another crime and multiple counts of sexual assault under the color of authority. Sanchez is being held in lieu of $1.45 million bail.
