A founder of the Pinkberry yogurt chain was recently arrested by the LAX Fugitive Task Force at the Los Angeles International Airport for an outstanding warrant for an assault in downtown Los Angeles.
In June 2011, Young Lee was driving a rental car with an acquaintance in the passenger seat when he saw a transient asking passing drivers for money. Lee rolled down his window and argued with the man, then parked and left his car to confront him. Lee demanded that the man kneel and apologize, and the man consented. Lee attacked him anyway, chasing him down, kicking him and beating him with a tire iron.
A witness called 911 and gave authorities the license plate number of Lee's rental car and the tire iron was recovered through the rental car agency. While detectives worked the case, Lee traveled overseas and was arrested upon his return to the United States. He is facing one count of Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Lee's criminal record already includes Felony Possession of Cocaine and two misdemeanor counts of Battery of a Spouse and Possession of a Loaded Firearm. He plead no contest to some of the charges in 2001, and was sentenced to two days in jail and three years' probation.
