27 Indicted in Mexican Mafia Crime Ring in Ventura County

Posted By Attorney Robert Bernstein || 3-Dec-2012

A major investigation began in April after investigators learned of a connection between two shootings in Moorpark and a heroin bust around the same time. All of those incidents were orchestrated by a high-ranking associate of the Mexican Mafia, which is an organized prison gang that orders crimes such as killings, extortion and drug trafficking inside and outside of prisons and controls many Southern California street gangs.

27 people, including two teens, were indicted and accused of crimes such as Conspiring to Commit Assault, extortion, home invasion, robbery and drug trafficking. All but two have been arrested, and at least 16 more are expected to be indicted. Along with the arrests, authorities have seized 32 weapons, $36,000 in cash and a quarter-pound of heroin. None of the defendants have posted bail, which range from $1 million to $5 million.

If you, or someone you know has been charged with any type of crime, it is important to hire an experienced criminal defense lawyer in Los Angeles who will aggressively defend your case.
