Man Who Crept into 10-Year-Old Girl's Bed Charged with Sex Offense

Posted By Robert M. Bernstein || 5-Sep-2011

A 22-year-old Orange County man was recently arrested and charged with one felony count of first degree residential burglary with the intent to commit a sexual offense after he allegedly broke into a home of a former neighbor and and crawled into bed with a 10-year-old girl before fleeing.

When the girl awoke to find the man in her bed, he offered her $25, wrapped his arms around her and began touching her leg. The girl's brother awoke to the sounds of her struggle and ran to get help. Their father initially caught the intruder, but he broke free and escaped by jumping out of the bedroom window. The man was located two days later and arrested.

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
