Los Angeles Man Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Methamphetamine to Japan

Posted By Los Angeles Defense Attorney || 28-Oct-2011

TSA agents discovered five pounds of Methamphetamine hidden inside potato chip bags in a passenger's suitcase. The passenger, a 21-year-old Los Angeles resident, is now facing a federal felony charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.

After a search of his luggage revealed the Methamphetamine, several Homeland Security Agents detained the man as he was about to board a plane to Japan. Once in custody, he revealed that he had a contact in Japan that was going to purchase the drugs for $6,000.

If he is found guilty of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, he could receive a life sentence in a federal prison.
