Gary Dourdan, former star of "CSI" was arrested in Los Angeles for alleged drug possession after he crashed into two parked cars. Authorities were investigating the scene of the accident when they found that Dourdan was in possession of ecstasy.
Drug diversion programs are available to first-time drug offenders. After successful completion of a diversion program, they are entitled to a dismissal of their criminal drug charges. Unfortunately for Dourdan, this was not his first drug-related arrest. Dourdan was convicted of three drug-related felonies in 2008, which he never had to serve time for.
If Dourdan is convicted of misdemeanor ecstasy possession, he faces up to one year in a county jail. If convicted of felony ecstasy possession, he faces up to three years in the California state prison.
