Attorney Leslie McAfee has been charged with stealing more than $300,000 in guns, jewelry and art from his friend's estate after he died of cancer in March 2010. He was arrested when a beneficiary named in the will contacted police after receiving nothing from the estate.
McAfee plead not guilty at his arraignment on a felony complaint with charges including; four counts of grand theft, 35 counts of grand theft of a firearm, six counts of perjury and one count of forgery. The perjury charge stems from McAfee allegedly claiming to be executor of the estate when McAfee re-registered several guns in his name. If convicted, McAfee faces a maximum of 37 years in prison.
