Mel Gibson's latest legal trouble began last year when the mother of his daughter, Grigorieva, accused him of Domestic Violence after he threatened her with a gun and punched her in the left temple and mouth as she held their infant daughter. Gibson vehemently denied he ever hurt Grigorieva, but he admitted in a sworn statement that he slapped her with an open hand because she was allegedly shaking the baby. He recently appeared in the Los Angeles Superior Court and pled no contest to a misdemeanor Spousal Battery charge.
The judge sentenced Gibson to 36 months' probation and ordered him to complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program and 16 hours of community service. He is also being served with a protective order, which requires him to not harass or intimidate Oksana Grigorieva, his ex-girlfriend.
