Lawrence Taylor, Former NFL Player, Must Register as a Sex Offender

Posted By Criminal Defense || 19-Apr-2011

Lawrence Taylor, former football player for the New York Giants, was arrested last May for hiring a 16-year-old girl who was prostituted out by a pimp at a Holiday Inn in New York. The 51-year-old was charged with third-degree  rape because of the victim's age, which includes charges of sex with a minor.

Taylor pled guilty to two counts: patronizing a prostitute and sexual misconduct.  He was sentenced to six years probation with no jail time.  Taylor has also been ordered to register as a sex offender.

The victim's pimp, Rasheed Davis, who pled guilty to one count of inducing the interstate travel of another for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct for financial gain, also agreed to forfeit the $300 fee he received from Taylor, in addition to the 1999 Mercedes Benz he used to bring the victim to the two-time Super Bowl champion.  He is facing 30 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced August 10.
