Man Sentenced for Attempted Murder and Assault
Elijah Stinson and his then-girlfriend, Jeniell Galvan-Franco, approached Jeffrey Cortinez and without provocation, Stinson struck him once in the head with an aluminum baseball bat, leaving the victim with severe brain damage that requires around-the-clock nursing care.
Stinson was recently sentenced in a plea agreement to seven years in state prison for attempted murder without premeditation and another five years for
assault with a deadly weapon likely to cause great bodily injury. Galvan-Franco accepted a plea agreement in 2009 that sentenced her to three years state prison for assault with a deadly weapon. She has since been paroled.
