Match.com, a popular singles website, will soon begin screening its users against the national sex offender registry after being sued by a California woman who says that she was assaulted by someone she met through the site's service. The suit said the attack could have been prevented with a proper background check and demanded that Match.com start screening for sexual predators.

The company was already considering screening users but the timing of the decision was accelerated by the attention the lawsuit brought.
