Orange County Woman in Custody for Severing Husband's Penis

An Orange County woman, Catherine Becker, allegedly drugged her husband's dinner, tied him to their bed, and when he awoke, she sliced off his penis with a knife and dropped it down an active garbage disposal. She called 911 afterward, and police officers arrived to find her husband tied to the bed and bleeding.

Becker is being held at the Orange County jail on suspicion of aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning and spousal abuse.

Under California Penal Code Section 205, a person is guilty of the felony of aggravated mayhem if he or she specifically intends to permanently disable or disfigure another, or deprive the other person of a limb, organ, or member of his or her body.

If convicted of aggravated mayhem, Catherine Becker could face life in prison with the possibility of parole.
